This beef is between DJ Shocker and PKE. DJ Shocker I believe is from Philly (at least his tracks are tagged “partymusic”) and from what I can gather, PKE is a large crew which includes maybe 10 or 15 producers who are mostly in Philly, but also in Jersey. Both Shocker and most of PKE crew make really punishing, blown-out club tracks that can go all the way to 155BPM. You can definitely hear an interesting parallel between some of these tracks and European Gabber, Hardcore, and Hardstyle. This beef doesn’t seem too serious (a lot of PKE members have collabed with Shocker) but there is some shit talking via Soundcloud comments.
This is the DJ Shocker track I beleive was the first shot. It has alot of elements like the tempo, the distorted Bass Drum, and certain synth sounds I would normally asscioate with Hardcore European Dance Music. Like the DJ Get Em and DJ SwizzyMacks from last week, theres also alot of shit talking via cut-up rap vocals.
Repping for PKE I’ve chosen this Yung Phresh track that also has a lot of these signifiers I’d usually associate with European Hardcore dance music like the synth melody sounds almost like it could be Jumpstyle. The melody contradicts (or balances?) all the aggression in tracks like this. It ends with a siren and a hilarious sample of throwing a string of insults.
